HIIT Workout Benefits

Efficiency

  • HIIT workouts achieve a lot in a short period of time. With just ~20 minutes of high intensity interval training, you can burn as many calories as a long duration traditional cardio workout does in around 40 minutes. Plus, you get additional benefits that cardio can’t give you, such as muscle growth.
  • Now, it’s not to say that HIIT is better than cardio, but in terms of calorie burn, it’s definitely more efficient. On average, long duration low intensity cardio burns around 10 calories per minute, whereas HIIT burns 15-20 calories per minute.
  • HIIT is the hybrid of cardio and strength training

  • HIIT and traditional cardio have many similarities in that they are both effective for burning calories and losing fat. HIIT just does so in a more efficient manner.

The difference is that cardio isn't just about burning calories its about cardiovascular health. While HITT has some benefit of cardiovascular health its not to the same degree as long duration low intensity cardio simply due to the nature of the two workouts

Cardio is low intensity which keeps you in the cardiovascular range and provides your muscle with oxygen for energy, while HIIT does not

Strength Training Benefits

~It builds muslce and strength

~ It boosts your metabolism and fat loss. Muscle tissue burns more calories than fat, the more muscle you have the higher you metabolism will be even at rest.

~ Increases Energy

~ Increases bone density

Mobility Benefits

  • Reduce risk of injury- A lack of mobility training has been shown to increase the risk of injury, while studies show a reduced risk of injury with the implementation of dynamic stretching ( a form of mobility training)
  • Improves performance- help to activate key muscles prior to a workout ( that would otherwise remain “ turned off). Think about a glute workout, if you want those booty gains, you need to get your gluteal muscles firing and increase the range of motion in your muscles and joints
  • Increase strength and power- can improve posture, form and technique, leading to increased strength and power during exercise. When your body is fully mobile, your better able to utilize your muscle and optimize your training
